  • Applicants who do not have a valid IPMAT, SAT, or CUET score are required to appear for TIPMAT, the institute’s own aptitude test, prior to the Personal Interaction.

Admission & Selection Process

A. Personal & Professional Readiness

This component is assessed through the Personal Interview (PI), an interaction with the Admission Committee, to evaluate the applicant’s overall suitability for the IPM program. The assessment focuses on parameters such as:

  • Motivation to pursue the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM)
  • Academic curiosity and willingness to learn
  • Communication skills and clarity of thought
  • Task orientation and problem-solving approach
  • Teamwork, initiative, and leadership potential
  • Emotional maturity, adaptability, and work ethic
  • Social awareness, values, and empathy

B. Academic Readiness

Academic readiness is assessed based on the applicant’s performance in any one of the following aptitude tests:

  • IPMAT / SAT / CUET

Applicants who have not appeared for any of the above tests are required to take TIPMAT (Thapar’s Integrated Programme Management Aptitude Test).

Note: Scores across different aptitude tests are scaled and normalized to ensure a fair and uniform evaluation.

C. Candidate Profile

The Candidate Profile evaluates the applicant’s academic consistency and overall background, and comprises the following components:

  • Class 10th Academic Performance
  • Class 12th Academic Performance
  • Co-curricular and Extra-Curricular Engagements (if applicable)

Computation of Merit Score

  • The weightage assigned to components A, B, and C is 35%, 35%, and 30% respectively.
  • A diversity factor may be considered under Component A (Personal & Professional Readiness).
  • The Final Merit Score is computed using the following formula:
    Net Score = (0.35 × A) + (0.35 × B) + (0.30 × C)
  • A = Score for Personal & Professional Readiness
  • B = Score for Academic Readiness
  • C = Score for Candidate Profile
